History

Howard’s End Hairdressing opened in 2001. It is a cute salon located in Middle Row right in the heart of the old town of Stevenage. A friendly little salon with a great big atmosphere, it is owned and managed by Richard Howard.

Trained locally and in London Richard was lucky enough to be coached for a while by Oscar and BAFTA winner Christine Blundell.

Richard has been working in the hair and beauty industry all of his career, mainly in and around Hertfordshire. He has also worked for the Freelance Hair and Beauty Federation encouraging higher standards with in freelance sector taking him to exhibitions and hair shows all over the county and one of his proudest moments sitting down for dinner with award winning and very much respected Trevor Sorbie and Andrew Barton (TV'S 10 year younger) discussing standards in the freelance part of the industry.

In 2007 he started tutoring at Hitchin College, Center For The Arts passing on his depth of knowledge and enthusiasm to others.

If you walk through Middle Row, you’ll always hear laughter coming from the salon. You can see instantly that Richard and his team get on really well and are passionate about what they do, the atmosphere is always happy & welcoming.

The Stylist's have years of experience having been on course's with L'Oreal, Wella, Vidal Sassoon, TiGi , Toni & Guy, Saks and most recently Hobbs a new exciting concept in hairdressing based in Camden. Every year one of the gang is taken to Amsterdam, Holland where the salons Colour House KEUNE is based for a two day refresher and advance workshop to keep up with the every changing colouring techniques.

Richard and his team are also very active with local charity work. Each year he organizes a charity ball called Jenny's Ball for which they raise money for Cancer Research UK and www.vaco.co.uk a support group for women that have suffered with the crippling disease of Vulva Cancer. There is a different theme every year From Vegas to London to Bollywood even a circus theme was thrown in for good measure. Everyone is welcome and it is always a great evening giving all the guests a chance to put on their refinery and party till the early hours, £1000’s are raised each year.
